Salah Joins Trabzonspor on Two-Year Deal After Liverpool Departure

Trabzonspor secured a significant coup by attracting the 34-year-old, who was greeted by thousands of enthusiastic fans upon his arrival in Turkey. The club's president, Ertuğrul Doğan, referred to Salah as a "world star," underscoring the magnitude of the acquisition for the Black Sea Storm.

"25,000 people are here. I don't know if you've ever seen this at an airport, but it's a great feeling and shows a lot of love. I'm really happy about this," Salah stated, expressing his appreciation for the fervent reception. He also shared a message with the club's supporters, proclaiming, "Trabzon are you ready, I can hear you, see you very soon," and in Turkish, "Bize her yer Trabzon," which translates to "everywhere is Trabzon for us."

The move allows Salah to continue competing at a high level in European football, a factor reportedly influencing his decision over potential transfers to Major League Soccer or the Saudi Pro League. Trabzonspor finished the 2025/26 Süper LigCompetition·Süper Lig season in third place and also secured the Turkish CupCompetition·Turkish Cup, earning them a spot in the upcoming Europa LeagueCompetition·Europa League campaign.

Salah's contract is reported to be a lucrative one, with an annual earning of approximately €17 million (£14.5 million), equivalent to around £280,000 per week, in addition to a £4.3 million signing-on bonus. These terms are expected to make him the highest-paid player in Trabzonspor's history, reflecting the club's ambition and the player's enduring market value.

His departure from LiverpoolTeam·Liverpool marks the end of an extraordinary chapter at Anfield. Over nine seasons, Salah became one of the club's most iconic figures, netting 257 goals in 442 appearances and contributing significantly to numerous trophy triumphs, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.
